ST. LOUIS > Former executive is accused of fraud * Brian Paluch, the former chief financial officer of PARIC Corp., was indicted Wednesday on federal mail fraud charges for allegedly using about $150,000 in company funds to pay personal expenses.

Prosecutors claim Paluch, 58, of Kirkwood, used a company credit card for "travel, dining, spa charges, electronics and personal gifts for family and friends" and forged the construction company president's signature to help cover it up. They also said Paluch inflated his bonus and helped another employee use company funds to pay private school tuition.

In a prepared statement, the company said Paluch was dismissed earlier this year and a "detailed internal audit" conducted. The company emphasized that no customer accounts were affected. Paluch was hired as CFO in 2006. His lawyer could not be reached.

ST. LOUIS > Woman is slain during argument * Police identified a woman shot about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 5000 block of Emerson Avenue as Brandi Lewis, 20. Witnesses told police she was arguing with two people and that one of them, a man, pulled a gun and shot her multiple times in the chest, hand, wrist and side. The two people ran. Lewis, of the 5000 block of Claxton Avenue, died at the scene.

In April 2012, Lewis was charged in St. Louis County with felony kidnapping for allegedly keeping an 18-month old girl she was baby- sitting for two days without the mother's consent. Lewis pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor child endangerment and received two years of probation.
