Concert against human trafficking * A free music and dance concert to raise awareness of human trafficking will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1151 Tom Ginnever Avenue in O'Fallon, Mo. January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Dancers from around the area are converging on O'Fallon, Mo., to shine a light on the crime. St. Louis has been named one of the top five hot spots for human trafficking in the U.S. by the Department of Justice. A group called Everyday Abolitionists will stage the concert. Safe sitter class * The Rock Community Fire Protection District will hold a free Safe Child Sitter Preparedness Class from 9 a.m.- noon Jan. 24 at district headquarters, 3749 Telegraph Road, Arnold. The class is for those who are preparing to be baby sitters, ages 11 and older. School choice * The Show-Me Institute will host a free public policy forum on the benefits of school choice from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at the St. Louis Central Public Library, 1301 Olive Street. The nonprofit institute will work with five social needs organizations coordinating this "Let's Hear from the Kids" policy forum. The program will begin with a student performance from a charter school group, followed by a panel discussion featuring four to five students with specific challenges who benefit from having school choice. …
