0314 Magic House art program * Visitors to the Magic House children's museum in Kirkwood will learn about the art of Chinese brush painting in special programs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visiting artist Ping Yan will share her techniques for painting bamboo, pandas, flowers, birds and other traditional subjects. This drop-in workshop is free with regular admission to the museum at 516 South Kirkwood Road, and no reservations are required. 0314 Casino night benefit * The University City Chamber of Commerce will host its annual casino night, Lucky U City, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Mandarin House Banquet Center, 8020 Olive Boulevard. Proceeds from the event will help support the chamber and its programs. The night will feature a variety of casino-style games with a chance to win several great prizes. Those attending may wear costumes, but they are optional. There will also be a silent auction. Complimentary food and two drink tickets are included in the ticket price. 0314 Musical instruments auction * Link Auction Galleries in the Central West End will hold its first fine musical instruments auction and sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the galleries at 5000 Washington Place. The auction will include a rare and fine Italian violin by Andrea Guarneri. The collection also includes a wide selection of rare and fine bows by makers such as Voirin, Tubbs, J.J. Martin, Thomassin, Lamy and Vigneron. Beyond the string family, instruments up for auction include a Steinway piano, guitars, brass and woodwinds, accordions, a Balinese Gamelon and several collectible books on the topic of classical music and violin makers. …
