FAIR: It's difficult to know whether to applaud or blow raspberries.

After weeks of partisan bickering, the U.S. Senate compromised Wednesday and passed an important bill to raise money for human trafficking victims. In the finest you-don't-want-to-see-how- sausage-is-made tradition of American politics, that freed the way for a vote on the confirmation of Loretta Lynch, whom President Barack Obama nominated for attorney general two weeks before Thanksgiving.

Ms. Lynch's destiny and the future of mostly women and girls who are victims of sex trafficking became intertwined because Republicans' attached an anti-abortion provision to the trafficking bill that Democrats didn't read.

Oops. Democrats passed the bill out of committee and then whined when it said something different than they thought it said. In retaliation and because they didn't like the provision, they withheld their votes on the bill. Very mature. Not.
