Ed Mulock is adamant that Julie Aranibar hates Manatee High School. Aranibar insists nothing could be further from the truth.

On Friday, the battle continued.

Manatee County Judge Doug Henderson ruled that Mulock will not be able to depose Aranibar -- the chairwoman of the Manatee County School Board -- in the Rod Frazier case. It was an unusual hearing considering that the case was closed on April 30, when Frazier pleaded no contest to four battery charges and had three dropped by prosecutors.

Mulock, Frazier's attorney, scheduled a deposition with Aranibar prior to his client's agreeing to a plea deal.

Mulock argued that because Aranibar's attorney never objected to the subpoena, the deposition should still be given, and Aranibar should also be made to provide the documents that Mulock requested.

Crystal Golm, Aranibar's attorney, argued that Mulock was seeking information outside the case, and because the case is closed, a motion to quash the subpoena should be granted.

Henderson agreed, but Mulock says it's not over.

"She can run but she can't hide," Mulock said Friday.

"There will be other opportunities, I am confident."

Frazier was an assistant football coach at Manatee High who was accused of inappropriately touching former female students and employees at the school.

In an April 29 email from Mulock to Golm, Mulock wrote that Aranibar is "working behind the scenes against my client and wants to hurt Manatee High." Mulock also wrote that he had witnesses who told him Aranibar hates Manatee High and football coach Joe Kinnan.

Mulock also claimed in the email that Aranibar, board member Karen Carpenter and Superintendent Rick Mills are working together against Manatee.
