Building a festival is more than selecting the right acts. It's also about starting conversations with the audience.

On the eve of four days of live music, theater and dance on the grounds of the Ringling Museum and FSU Center for the Performing Arts, audiences can be sure of one thing: the Ringling International Arts Festival won't look like last year's festival, or next year's. And you'll come out energized, and ready to talk.

Festival coordinator and director of programming Dwight Currie said that from the get-go, the festival has been envisioned as an audience conversation-starter and energizer. "The most exciting thing about the festival is the conversations that ensue, that it inspires," he said. "We are developing a festival audience that wants that high density, high intensity, high energy concentration of performances, one after the other, and then the opportunity to sit and talk about those performances."
