Re/Max Platinum Realty agents and staff have selected Toys for Tots as the recipient of their giving program for the 2014 holiday season. All five Re/Max Platinum Realty offices in Sarasota and Manatee counties are collection centers for people to drop off new, unwrapped toys, books and other gifts to be distributed to less fortunate children in the community. Employees also brought toys to the Re/Max Platinum Realty holiday party.

Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery is partnering with the Marine Corps League for Toys for Tots collection. Those wishing to donate a new, unwrapped children's gift may do so at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road.

In recognition of its upcoming 85th anniversary, the Sarasota Music Club will donate $8,500 to music performance and education programs. Any Sarasota or Manatee county nonprofit organization that shares the club's mission of promoting music education and/or performance can apply for a donation of $500 or $1,000. Submit a one- page application that contains: contact information, a description of the organization and an explanation of how the organization would use the money.

Send three copies of the application to: Susan Hicks, 2100 Constitution Blvd. No. 167, Sarasota, FL 34231. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Dec. 30.

On Feb. 23, the Orioles will hold the 5th Annual OriolesREACH Birdland Golf Classic at The Founders Club to benefit the Miracle League of Manasota, an organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for every person to play baseball, regardless of their ability. Registration is now open for golfers and corporate partners.

The event will feature a silent auction and the chance to play a round with current and former Orioles players and coaches.

Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast as one of the charitable organizations it would donate to at the end of the year. The associates at the firm coordinate a charitable giving foundation, Leadership Shumaker, which organizes several fundraisers throughout the year funded entirely by personal donations from attorneys and staff. This year, Leadership Shumaker will donate $2,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast.

The Face Autism Sensory Santa event was held Dec. 7 at Westfield Sarasota Square mall. During this annual sensory-friendly event, children with autism get to have their photos taken with Santa and his elves while the mall is closed and no music is playing. …
