BASEBALL: Sarasota pitching controls Manatee, now 0-2

BRADENTON -- Senior right-hander Jordan Gubelman (1-0) allowed two hits over five innings as Sarasota beat Manatee 3-0 on Wednesday at GT Bray Park.

Junior shortstop Nick Long was 2-for-2 with a double, and senior third baseman Cody Brickhouse was 2-for-4 with a double for the Sailors.

SARASOTA -- T Hebda, a junior lefthanded pitcher, threw five innings of one-hit ball as the Cougars beat Lemon Bay at Stephen J. Christie Field.

The win, which concluded in the sixth inning via the 10-run mercy rule, was the second in as many days for Mooney (2-0).

TAMPA JESUIT 1

TAMPA -- Langston Provitt went 2 for 3 with three RBI to help Venice (2-0) beat Tampa Jesuit.

Tyler Gardner went 1 for 2 with a RBI.

Cole Krazel got the win pitching four innings, allowing two hits, no walks and striking out six.
