West Alabama Baseball Takes Down Nova Southeastern

The University of West Alabama's College World Series appearance hopes stay alive.

Gandy Stubblefield pitched a complete game to help the No. 4 Tigers down No. 6 Nova Southeastern University, 2-0, in Saturday's elimination game in the Division II South Baseball Regional tournament.

West Alabama, the host and No. 1 seed of the tournament, lost 5- 1 on Friday to No. 7 Florida Tech.

The defeat marked only the second loss for West Alabama since March 8. The Tigers have won 31 of their last 33 games and are 42- 10.

"I wasn't sure how they were going to respond to be honest with you," head coach Gary Rundles said. "We haven't lost a lot in the last two or three months, so when you lose a game like that and you know you didn't play well it can be devastating.

"They came out (Saturday) and they were excited about the game and played hard. I'm very proud of the way they responded."

West Alabama's first run came in the bottom of the third with an RBI from Junior Jack Cockrum, scoring Parker Madden. …
