Towns sponsor Memorial Day parades

Around the West - Carnegie will honor veterans at its annual parade at 2 p.m. Sunday starting at the borough building, One Veterans Way. Individuals knowing a World War II veteran who would like to participate should contact the Carnegie Historical Society, 412-276-7447, or Mayor Jack Kobistek, kobistek@juno.com.

Collier will hold a service at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Monument near the municipal building. Donations of clothes, shoes and everyday needs like shaving cream and deodorant will be collected for the men and women at the VA Hospital in Oakland.

The Kennedy American Legion Post 464 is sponsoring the annual parade at 9 a.m. Monday starting at 1806 Pine Hollow Road and following Fairhaven Road to the War Memorial where there will be a ceremony.

Scott's parade will start at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Church on Lindsay Road and then proceed down Lindsay Road to Scott Park.

Free television production training course

Moon - Moon Community Access Television is offering a four-week television production volunteer training course at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays starting June 11 in the MCA-TV studio, 1700 Beaver Grade Road, suite 140.

The class is open to residents of any community looking to advance their knowledge of studio, camera, audio and technical training. Completion of the course qualifies individuals to be an MCA-TV volunteer.

Heritage Valley offers health care scholarships

Moon - The application deadline is June 15 for scholarships of various amounts from the medical staffs of Heritage Valley Beaver and Heritage Valley Sewickley to individuals pursuing an education in a health care career field.

The Beaver and Sewickley hospital staffs established and contribute to funds within each hospital's respective Foundation to support Beaver County and northwest Allegheny County residents in their pursuit of a health care profession.

Applicants can be in their senior year of high school, high school graduates, or current post-secondary students. …
