MOTORIST WINS RAVES FOR HELPING WITH TIRE

I would like to start by saying how much I love the Thursday Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and look forward to reading and sharing the Random Acts of Kindness articles. Although the local news is important to follow to be aware of events, it always seems to be bad news.

I have now had the fortunate experience of having a random act of kindness happen to me! I was on my way to work one morning in Penn Hills when I hit a pothole and blew out my tire.

I called my longtime boyfriend, knowing he wouldn't be happy about it but would fix it, and seven calls later he finally answered. Surprisingly, he did not yell but said he would call a buddy who owned a garage close by.

I whined, saying, "Everyone riding by is honking at me and not even stopping to see if I'm OK." I hung up, and not a minute later a silver Monte Carlo pulled up with a gentleman asking me, "Are you OK?"

I was leery in a sense but relieved at the same time. I told him I had blown my tire, and he offered to help. I accepted. Not only did he change my tire, but he led me to the nearest gas station to put air in the spare.

He told me his name was Mark. He was truly my hero that day! I hope he sees this and knows how much I appreciated his help that morning.

I instructed her to use the "Find My Phone" app from her computer, which gave her some relief by showing that the mobile phone was still inside the store. …
