Outing Offers Chance to Cycle, Walk, Pray on Panhandle Trail

"Love Bike Pray" is a trip along the Panhandle Trail that will get people walking or cycling, with stops along the way at hospitality tents set up by churches from McDonald to Burgettstown to Carnegie.

The free event will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday. It begins in McDonald, but participants can start at any point on the trail.

Two groups are leaving from the McDonald Trail Station, 162 S. McDonald St. One group will ride to Carnegie and the other to Burgettstown. Everyone will end up at the McDonald Trail Station by 4 p.m. for a prayer celebration and pizza and homemade ice cream.

The annual event was started last year by Nathan Holmes, who lives in the Bavington section of Smith, Washington County.

"Every Sunday we all go to different faith gatherings," Mr. Holmes said. "This event gives us an opportunity to come together as one body, brothers and sisters ... to get outside and meet new people from neighboring churches and communities and enjoy the beauty of God's creation. …
