Highlights from Savor Sarasota

Now in its tenth year, Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week kicked off on Monday and runs until June 14. Created by the Visit Sarasota County as a way to draw tourists, particularly day-trippers who live in Florida, to town to try out our local culinary scene during the start of the slower summer season, Savor is also a huge boon to local diners.

At least 50 participating restaurants will offer a three-course lunch menu for $15 and a prix-fixe dinner menu for $29 throughout the two-week event. When you take into account that many of the restaurants have single entrees priced at those levels, Savor can be a great bargain.

We've picked out a few highlights, the kinds of menus that start our salivary glands going and put them below, but we want to hear about your experiences. You can pick from four appetizers - chicken liver pate, beef carpaccio, Caesar salad or soup of the day - with another four choices of entree - homemade ravioli, linguine Bolognese, chicken amore or veal piccata. For dessert, select from classic tiramisu or homemade ice cream. Bozzolo strives to make everything at Amore from scratch daily, ncluding pastas and breads, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
