A Scott Township official said last night he will move to outlaw motorcycle events at Heidelberg Raceway as the result of a weekend riot which was quelled only after police from nine municipalities and state troopers were summoned.

"The people in our township have been terrorized too long by this so-called sports event," said Glenn Shipley, president of the Scott Township Board of Commissioners.

He said he plans to introduce an ordinance banning cycle racing events in the township at the board's meeting tomorrow evening.

His action, he said, was prompted by the riot which began about 11 p.m. Saturday and continued until after 4 a.m. yesterday. About ten were arrested and three police cruisers were damaged in the melee.

Ticket booths and a truck on the raceway grounds also were set ablaze by the rioters.
