IT is said that madness can be describes as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting change to happen.

Next week our teachers will go on strike for one day, almost 12 months ago to the day they did the same thing.

Are they any better off, were they listened too? The young people they teach have a far better understanding of how to unite and galvanise their peers into action than the people who teach them.

Twitter, Facebook and other social media is the key, UNISON, the NUT and the TUC in general are out of date, out of touch and belong in a time forgotten, along with the Jarrow Walk and the miners' strike.

If they truly want to be heard, they must do something different - blowing whistles and waving banners in the rain only get you sore throats and wet.

The government and the city are driven by money and the power it brings, so the answer is to take control of the money. …
