IT took my hands a long time to warm up to write this!

I've just emerged from spending a very cold but enjoyable 25 minutes inside the new Coors Light ice bar at the Manchester Bierkeller.

In my years as a journalist I've never made notes at minus nine degrees before.

I'm told that 25 minutes to half an hour is the maximum time that we can remain inside this large industrial freezer, which houses a bar, a hand-sculpted ice settee and a curling game.

This is to prevent risk of hypothermia. Yikes!

Thankfully, we are protected against the cold in thermal cloaks with a cosy furry hood.

I just wish I had picked a wiser choice of outfit than a summer dress and bare legs for my visit.

There are a few shocked glances as I wander around trying to look brave with bare legs on show in the freezing blue-hued room. And I notice that the longer I spend in the freezer, sorry. …
