SCHOOL proms have become the norm for Manchester's high schools, but now it seems primary schools are also following the trend.

Pupils at Broadbent Fold Primary School in Dukinfield are getting glammed up for their own 'Oscars' prom night next week and will be arriving in style.

Mum-of-three Gemma Jakeman, whose daughter Faye is attending the prom, said: "At first I thought it wasn't going to be a big thing, but since going to the meeting I believe it's the works - prom dress, hair and we have arranged a limo. The prom is at school and so far it's Pounds 15 each for the limo, Pounds 15 for her hair to be done and then I need to buy her a new dress and shoes."

Gemma, 31, admits it can prove to be a costly affair - on top of the price of school trips and summer fairs - but says she would not want her daughter to 'miss out'.
