Animal Prints Lead to New Venture ; Duo Set Up Business in Northern Quarter after Designing Tour Poster for the Frontman of the Courteeners

THE first illustration that Laura Fray and Jess Turley designed together was a tour poster for the popular Middleton band The Courteeners.

What started out as a hobby and a favour to Laura's brother, Liam - the frontman of the band- has now blossomed into a flourishing business.

Laura and Jess have set up Ink Inc Illustration, based at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre in the Northern Quarter.

They create illustrations of animals with a quirky twist on greetings cards, framed prints, fine bone china ceramics, tea towels and tote bags. Jess, 29, a former fashion print designer, said: "I had drawn a picture of a tiger and we were all out having drinks and I showed it to Liam, and he loved it. So we added a headdress and he used it for those acoustic shows which was great."

Since then the pair have designed posters for the Christmas acoustic tour 2014 and more recently the scenic tree for the Heaton Park gig. They also created the designs on merchandise for the band's recent Concrete Love tour. …
