GIANTS POSE BIG THREAT FOR WANE ; Wigan Coach Is Eager to Make Winning Start to Season-Defining Super 8's

WIGAN Warriors coach Shaun Wane wants a big performance from his players in their opening Super 8's clash with Huddersfield Giants tonight.

The Giants have spoiled the party in the past by winning at the DW Stadium but Wane is counting on a strong start from the Warriors.

"Huddersfield are a side with some very strong middles," he said. "I say this every time we play them, they use their players in the middle very well. "We must make sure we are able to challenge them in contact and on the floor. If so, that will give us a good chance to win what is a very important game.

"We will also have to work hard to score tries because Huddersfield have the best defence.

"It has the makings of an exciting game. We have been playing well at home but this one is a real tough game for us."

Wane has done his homework on the Giants and knows the battle of two powerful packs is going to be significant.

Having missed out on the Challenge Cup, Wane is pulling out all the stops for Wigan to finish top of the pile and then progress to Old Trafford for the Grand Final. …
