Style Week Pittsburgh owes its third annual lineup to a lot of planning, networking and some serendipitous encounters.

Founder Wadria Taylor spotted a couple of this year's designers at another runway show in the city. She met other participants at a Downtown social. In another case, people approached her about collaborating or holding a slice of the week's action at their venue.

It all comes together this week when Style Week Pittsburgh descends upon the city for five days of fashion Wednesday through Sunday at multiple locations.

"It's really a melting pot of talent," says Ms. Taylor, who heads Style & Steel event planning in addition to directing Style Week.

Opening night will take place in East Liberty at the Kelly- Strayhorn Theater, a new space for the event and the co-presenter for the fashion show. It will feature a mix of first-timers and some returning favorites, including Pittsburgh-based designers Diana Misetic, Jazmin Jackson and Lana Neumeyer and Toya Taylor of Jamaica. Before the show, guests can be pampered at the Philip Pelusi Salons beauty and grooming bar and browse selections from fashion trucks. After the main event, head to the theater's lobby for a dance party.

"One of the things I always have in mind when I produce these events is making it an experience where [guests are] really going to enjoy themselves," Ms. Taylor says.

A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go to Dress for Success Pittsburgh, a nonprofit that outfits women with business- appropriate apparel and accessories. Guests who bring an accessory to donate to Dress for Success receive $5 off the price of admission.

On Thursday, festivities move Downtown to Perle in Market Square. Style Week held its inaugural event at the champagne lounge in 2013; this time it will be the site of a cocktail party and the Style Awards, which recognize a sampling of those who contribute to Pittsburgh's fashion community based on nominations from the public and Style Week's roster of volunteer ambassadors.
