THE full programme for this year's Manchester Food and Drink Festival has now been revealed with more star appearances, music and merriment on the menu.

Newly-announced events include a gastrobooze cruise along the Manchester Ship Canal hosted by celebrity chef Andrew Nutter, followed by an after party at Spinningfields restaurant Tattu on September 20.

A star-studded chef demo line-up has also been unveiled, with Michelin-starred Simon Rogan taking to the live cookery theatre at the festival hub in Albert Square alongside Manchester House chef Aiden Byrne and rising star Olia Hercules on September 12.

Iberica's Cesar Garcia, Yang Sing's Harry Yeung, Alex Shaw, from Didsbury's awardwinning Volta restaurant, and Simon Shaw, from King Street newcomer El Gato Negro, will follow suit on September 13.

The hub will also be home to a bustling street food market throughout the festival, from September 10 to 20, featuring local favourites like Viet Shack, Ginger's Comfort Emporium and Chaat Cart alongside big names like Thaikhun, Burger and Lobster, Iberica and Tampopo.

Restaurant delivery service Deliveroo will also be taking over a stall during the opening weekend, from September 11 to 13, bringing a taste of the festival to customers who can't make it down to the square by dropping off meal orders straight to their door. Beer- lovers can quench their thirst at festival sponsor Thwaites' Wainwright Ale Trail bar from September 10 to 13, while top tonic brand Fever Tree will be pouring gins galore at its cocktail bar throughout the festival.

Some of Manchester's most exciting new microbreweries will also feature alongside big name brewers in the 100 Greatest MCR Beers Fest at the hub from September 14 to 20.

Wahaca founder and MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers will head up a celebration of heat and hard liquor at a chilli and tequila festival in the square on the same day her first Manchester restaurant opens at the Corn Exchange, on September 11.

Other events at the hub include a 'Bread and Med' masterclass from acclaimed Levenshulme bakery Trove and Italian deli Salvi's (September 17), an experimental ice-cream banquet with Ginger's Comfort Emporium (September 18) and talks and tastings with the 'Three Wine Women' - Kate Goodman, BBC Food and Drink Show guru and owner of Didsbury's Reserve Wines; Jane Dowler from Spanish wine and tapas bars Evuna; and Guardian drinks writer Fiona Beckett (September 10). …
