RATED the best school in Stockport, Cheadle Hulme High School does more than teach the pupils - it also trains the teachers.

This unique selling point has helped cement the school as the best in Stockport.

The mixed secondary school became a training school in 2000 and was awarded academy status in 2012. Ofsted showered praise on the academy after its latest inspection in December last year, marking it outstanding in every category and commenting on the high standards of both students and teachers in their report.

They wrote: "Leaders at every level share a passion for students to succeed and for the school to be a beacon of excellence within the community.

"They have very high aspirations and expect the highest standards from everyone."

The headteacher, Linda Magrath, believes the school's success is down to the teaching staff 's ability to go the extra mile to help the children improve.

She said: "What makes our school different is that we are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure our students get the very best education. …
