UCO Selects Alumni Award Winners

EDMOND (JR) - The University of Central Oklahoma Alumni Association selected Scott Fischer, chief operating officer of Fischer Enterprises, as the first recipient of the Young Alumni Award.

The foundation also selected three recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Central Family of the Year.

The annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 6 at the Nigh University Center on the UCO campus in Edmond.

The three recipients of the association's traditional Distinguished Alumni Award are Freddy Russian, Tim Tall Chief and Brig. Gen. Alicia Tate-Nadeau.

The Tuepker family was selected as the 2015 Central Family of the Year. The award is given annually to a family who has a long line of members who have attended or graduated from UCO and continue to stay involved with the university.

The Tuepker family has 23 members who attended or graduated from UCO.

The Young Alumni Award was created for UCO graduates who make contributions early in a career to their profession or community.

As COO of Oklahoma City-based Fischer Enterprises, Fischer supervised the acquisition of the assets of Dippin' Dots Inc., the maker and franchisor of flash-frozen tiny beads of ice cream, from its bankruptcy estate in 2012. He now serves as president and a board member, leading Dippin' Dots through its expansion into 12 countries.

Russian is the founder, CEO and managing director of American Family Legacy Group and AFLG Investments Private Equity.

Russian began his career in 1991 and has served as a financial analyst, a senior rating bond analyst with Dow Jones and as an assistant vice president for Private Client Group of Bank of America Securities/Merrill Lynch. Russian has a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from UCO.

Tall Chief is director of health services for the Citizen of Potawatomi Nation in Shawnee. …
