The Zoo's Woes Go beyond the Elephant Issue

The Pittsburgh Zoo & #38; amp; PPG Aquarium should be a joy and an educational experience for all ages, but the zoo is a dump full of weeds, broken fixtures and dangers to its staff - and hopefully not its patrons.

When you visit the zoo you will park and you will find that the sidewalk in the parking lot is so overgrown with weeds and small trees that your family must walk in the parking lot road.

So you pay your admission and buy "keys" for your kids and grandkids to use in the many recording boxes at the animal exhibits only to find that half of the recordings are broken. Does the zoo's CEO, Barbara Baker, know?

Perhaps all those weeds bordering the walkways are some "greenway" that I'm not aware of. But in most places that kind of overgrowth is a harbor for poison ivy and rodents, not to mention the landscaping is just unsightly. …
