Anderson Could Make Lancs Return in Title Decider

LANCASHIRE are hopeful of having England ace Jimmy Anderson available for their forthcoming Division Two title decider against Surrey at Emirates Old Trafford, starting a week on Monday.

The Ashes-winning fast bowler missed the final two Tests against the Aussies due to a side strain, but is on the road to recovery ahead of England's tour to the UAE next month.

Anderson has not played for Lancashire so far this season, but his availability would be a major boost to a Red Rose side who are five points behind leaders Surrey with two matches left.

Both sides clinched Championship promotion yesterday, although Lancashire could only draw against Kent at Canterbury.

They returned a below-par bowling display, and sorely missed injured seamers Kyle Jarvis and James Faulkner.

Jarvis has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a broken hand, while Australian Faulkner missed the Kent match with a fractured finger and was not due to play against Surrey and then Essex at Chelmsford anyway. …
