ST. LOUIS COUNTY > Jamyla Bolden's school to get playground * A playground will be built at the elementary school Jamyla Bolden attended before being fatally shot in her home last month. Her classmates at Koch Elementary in the Riverview Gardens School District wanted the playground to be in Jamyla's favorite colors: purple, pink and lime green.

The Crossing, a church in Chesterfield, is paying for the playground.

One of the church's pastors, Anthony Meyer, said church leaders had been working with the school to build a playground and assist with tutoring and mentoring before Jamyla's death on Aug. 19.

"In essence, the kids decided, 'That's how we're going to represent her,'" Meyer said.

The school has a basketball court but lacks a playground. Meyers said children had recess in a grass lot. He said the playground should be finished by Oct. 3.

Jamyla, who was 9 at the time of her death, was doing homework on her mother's bed when someone fired shots into their home in Ferguson. …
