'Jurassic World' ***

As the dino-wrangling hero, Chris Pratt continues his audition to be the next Indiana Jones. JW

'Meru' ***

R * 1:30 * After a failed attempt to climb Mount Meru in the Himalayas, three friends return three years later for a second go at the treacherous peak. When this documentary gets into the thorny question of why the men want to climb the mountain, the film is at its most fascinating. The Washington Post

'Minions' **

PG * 1:31 * Circa 1968, the goggle-eyed, pint-size sidekicks from the "Despicable Me" movies help a super-villainess (voice of Sandra Bullock) steal the crown jewels of England. Without distinct characters, suspense or even dialogue (except for the yellow Minions' nonsensical gibberish), this prequel/spinoff is a corporate product for preschoolers. JW
