QB Ben Roethlisberger: He made the 49ers pay for trying to stop the run, completing passes of 35, 41, 48, 56 and 59 yards to three different receivers, not to mention a couple two-point conversion passes to Heath Miller and Antonio Brown. He had 252 of his 369 passing yards in the first half and finished with three TDs and a passer rating of 155.8. It was the most points the Steelers have scored since they put up 43 on the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 2, 2014.

X's and O's

Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has been elevated to the No. 3 receiving spot with the four-game suspension to Martavis Bryant and he made up for the blown TD catch in New England with two big plays - - a 41-yard catch to set up the first touchdown and a 35-yard touchdown before the end of the first half. It was his first TD catch since Dec. 30, 2012. "We really couldn't get the run going and we had to make plays in the passing game," Heyward-Bey said. "We were able to do that to get the offense going."

Shazier had his best game since being a No. 1 draft choice in 2014, finishing with 15 tackles (11 solo), a sack and three tackles for loss. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
