Soup Kitchen: Grace's Soup Kitchen at Mountain Heights Church, 1201 Chestnut St., Spring Hill, will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22. 5K Run Fundraiser: The Cross Roads Pregnancy Care Center 5K will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 on the University of Charleston campus. The run is a fundraiser for the Cross Roads Pregnancy Care Center, which is dedicated to providing women with information about pregnancy and parents with the skills to care successfully for a baby. DAR Food Drive: The Anne Bailey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will conduct a nonperishable-food drive to assist those in need in the Kanawha Valley and in honor of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which is being celebrated this year. Members of the local Anne Bailey Chapter will be at the Riverwalk Plaza Kroger in South Charleston and the Teays Valley Kroger from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, to accept nonperishable food donations for two area food pantries. Donations at the South Charleston location will go to the Union Mission of Charleston, while donations at the Teays Valley store will go to the Community Cupboard in Hurricane. …
