Usually after reading Ruth Ann Dailey's columns, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. After reading her Sept. 28 column "Coverage of Pope, Boehner: Lean to Left," I was confounded. I couldn't decide whether she was delusional, had selective memory or had no regard for honesty in her writing.

Examining her statement that political polarization took a turn for the worse upon the passage of the Affordable Care Act, has she completely forgotten the extreme personal attacks on President Barack Obama during the 2008 election? He was attacked variously and repeatedly as a foreigner, Muslim, socialist, communist and/or fascist, to name a few printable characterizations.

Has she completely forgotten that the Republican leadership met in secret on his Inaugural Day and plotted a course to completely and unequivocally oppose any of his initiatives and to make each of his initiatives fail? …
