Morgan Childers

DuBourg volleyball

A 5-foot-10, senior outside hitter, Childers led the Cavaliers to their second consecutive Perryville Tournament championship. In seven tournament matches, she had 62 kills, 20 aces and 68 digs. In the final set of the championship match against Perryville, she recorded eight aces and pounded down 14 kills. Childers also had big performances following the tournament in wins over O'Fallon Christian.

Izzy Marten

Kirkwood golf

A junior, Marten won the Class 2 District 1 Tournament by one stroke with a 3-over-par 75 at Crown Pointe Golf Club. Marten finished strong with a pair of birdies on the final two holes to go along with five bogeys and 11 pars. She was coming off a third- place showing in the Suburban XII Conference Tournament at Crescent Farms, where she carded a 10-over 82. She carries a stroke average of 40.25 for nine holes and also plays soccer.

Colin Schuetz

Mater Dei football

A 6-foot-1, 208-pound junior quarterback, Schuetz completed 21 of 32 passes for 438 yards with touchdown passes of 65, 28, 30, 86 and 15 yards as the Knights routed Quincy Notre Dame 47-28. It was another in a succession of big games for Scheutz, who has thrown for 1,312 yards and 15 TDs in his last four games. Schuetz is second in the area in passing yards (1,599), tied for third in TD passes (18), and has completed 54.4 percent of his passes with a quarterback rating of 112.6.

Kelly Trenz

Ursuline volleyball

A 5-foot-8, senior libero, Trenz was named the MVP of the Metro Classic at Belleville East after leading the Bears to the championship. In five tournament matches, she averaged 4.5 digs per game and had seven aces. But her contributions go far beyond statistics. She is an on-court leader, who sports a steady defensive presence. Last season, she earned first-team all-MWAA, second-team all-district, and Ursuline defensive player of the year honors. …
