Mark E. Yardley, of Topeka, recently was elected to the Washburn University Foundation board of directors. Yardley serves as executive vice president and chief risk officer of FHLBank Topeka. He has been on the Washburn University Foundation board of trustees since 2014 and currently serves on the audit committee.

George A. Barton, Deanna (Dee) Smelser-Bisel, Michael W. Falk and Steven W. Weeks recently were elected to the Washburn University Foundation board of trustees. Barton, who received his law degree from Washburn's School of Law, is the principal in the Law Offices of George A. Barton in Overland Park. Smelser-Bisel, who has a bachelor's degree from Washburn, is the owner of the Minuteman Press franchise in Lawrence. Falk, who received a bachelor's degree from WU and a master's degree from Kansas State University, is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Weeks, who also has a bachelor's degree from Washburn and a law degree from Harvard, is a partner in the Cincinnati law firm of Taft Stettinius & Hollister.

Alison Leiszler Bridges, executive president and COO of Leiszler Oil Company in Clay Center, has been elected president of the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association of Kansas. Leiszler Bridges has been a member of the association's executive committee for the past four years and is the current chairperson for the PMCA Motor Fuels Committee.


Dennis Cooley, a Topeka pediatrician, has received the 2015 Summit Award for Excellence in Care from Sunflower Health Plan and its parent company, Centene Corporation. Practitioners are selected annually for the award -- sponsored by Centene Foundation for Quality Healthcare since 2008 -- based on their exemplary performance in a number of quality measures. …
