Governor Christie said Friday that he doesn't feel like he has "such a big mountain to climb" -- not in his presidential polling, but in his continued battle with weight.

In a radio interview with Fox News Radio, Christie, who is running for the Republican nomination, told host Brian Kilmeade that he feels "much better" today than he did a year ago. In early 2013 he underwent gastric band surgery, commonly known as lap band. Since then Christie, once estimated to be 200 pounds overweight, has slimmed down considerably.

"It's been really good for me," Christie said of the surgery. "I feel really good, but more than anything else, a peace of mind for me and for my family that my health is right where it needs to be."

Christie, a father of four, told Kilmeade that the surgery was for his children.

"I want to be there to walk my daughters down the aisle," he said. …
