ANDREW BONE: Tide Will Have Elite Prospects at Next Two Home Games

Article excerpt

The University of Alabama's 2017 class is off to a fantastic start, and the 2016 class will not come to a conclusion until signing day in February. Alabama added a major commitment in the junior class last Saturday prior to the win against Arkansas and had several key prospects on campus, including one official visitor.

The Crimson Tide will have plenty of elite prospects in Tuscaloosa for the next two home games, Tennessee and LSU, and a five-star tight end has also scheduled an official visit.

Jake Fromm, 2017 four-star quarterback from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Ga., committed to Alabama when he visited Tuscaloosa last Saturday. He was recently named a top three of Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

"It's awesome," Fromm said of his commitment. "It's a great feeling to get it out of the way. I felt very good about it. My family felt good about it. I prayed hard about it. Alabama is the best opportunity for me to be successful. I love knowing I have the ability to play at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

"The decision came down between Alabama and Ole Miss. As soon as they were confident in my talent, I was confident in them."

Fromm will only visit Alabama and plans to graduate early to enroll in January 2017.

"I thought they would definitely help me grow up and be a man," he said. "They will help me be successful when I leave college whether I play or not. I know I will have more success in life by going there. Being the starting quarterback at Alabama is a big deal, though. I certainly am striving for that."

Seven of Alabama's eight commitments in the 2017 class are rated four stars or higher. Xavier McKinney, safety from Roswell (Ga.) High School, is the only three-star in the class, but is expected to jump in the rankings after a recent evaluation.

"After playing well as a sophomore and having an excellent offseason, Xavier McKinney, was ranked by Rivals as a 5.7 three- star prior to receiving his first offer," said Southeast Recruiting Analyst Woody Wommack. …
