Family Tradition: Hunter Set for State

Article excerpt

Hayden's Hunter family has been a staple in the Class 4A tennis tournament, with Paige, Blake and Tommy combining for 11 state appearances, three state titles and a pair of runner-up finishes.

The youngest Hunter, freshman Brooklyn, will try to add to the family legacy when she competes in the 4A state meet Friday and Saturday at the T.H. Vaughn Tennis Center in Winfield.

"I'm really excited," Hunter said. "I've been looking forward to it."

Hunter will take an 11-1 record into her first match (tournament starts at 11:30 a.m.) and has won city and regional championships and finished second in the Centennial League tourney.

Hunter will be joined at state by senior teammates Kathleen Kramer and Brenna Meier, who finished sixth at regionals and will take a 10-12 record into the state meet.
