PAUL Butler believes he would easily outwit Jamie Conlan in the ring as the pair edge closer to a huge showdown.

Failsworth-trained Butler returns to action at the Manchester Arena on December 19, while Conlan headlines a bill in Dublin on November 7. Victories for both men in their respective fights could set up a clash next year.

And Butler has the utmost confidence in his own ability.

"Personally I think Conlan is a good kid but he's not good enough to beat me," he said. "He's got plenty of heart and I respect that, but against me he'd have to show a lot more than just grit.

"I know that I'd beat him. Whether he stood in front of me, if I took it to him, or if I boxed him, I know I'd come out the winner.

"There isn't any department where he could beat me from what I've seen. If his last opponent, Junior Granados, pushed him back then what's he going to do against me? …
