Kroenke Partner Looking to Develop 200 Acres in Maryland Heights

A business partner of St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke has about 200 acres in Maryland Heights under contract, according to city officials.

Kroenke's attorney, Alan Bornstein, who has partnered with Kroenke on previous real estate developments, talked to the Maryland Heights City Council earlier this month.

The news, broken early Tuesday by the St. Louis Business Journal, immediately fueled speculation that Kroenke was developing a stadium site as a backup to his proposal in Los Angeles.

Kroenke is planning a new stadium for the Rams in Inglewood, Calif., and has spoken to National Football League owners at length about leaving St. Louis.

But Bornstein bluntly called such speculation "incorrect."

The attorney, reached by phone Tuesday, wouldn't field a reporter's questions, but sent a statement.

"Any speculation that the Maryland Heights property would be developed as a stadium for the St. Louis Rams is incorrect," Bornstein said by email. "We are at the beginning of an extended review and planning process to determine the feasibility of developing the property for a mix of uses, including retail, entertainment, hotel, office, and multifamily. …
