ROUNDUP: Koy Chapman's Five TDs Paces Gordo Past Wicksburg

GORDO | Koy Chapman threw five first-half touchdown passes to five different receivers to lead the Gordo Greenwave to a Class 3A, first-round playoff win against Wicksburg on Thursday night.

Chapman hit Ben Davis for a 25-yard score, Ladarius Plott for 28 yards, Tyler Davis for 71, Thomas Longdon for 18 and Collin Herring for a 31-yard touchdown pass to put Gordo up 35-0 at intermission. Chapman completed 20 of 23 attempts for 319 yards. Davis caught three passes for 86 yards.

Mark Davis scored on a 27-yard run in the third quarter to cap the scoring for the Greenwave. Will Hankins kicked six extra points.

Herring paced Gordo's rushing attack with 52 yardson nine attempts, and added four receptions for 44 yards. He also made nine tackles and caused a fumble.

Wicksburg scored on Shawn Bowden's 1-yard run in the third quarter and a 4-yard touchdown carry in the fourth.

Gordo advanced with an 11-0 record. Wicksburg finished 7-4.

Class 1A

Berry 38, Vina 14

BERRY | Jonathan Thomas caught nine passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns, also scoring a two-point conversion, as Berry advanced.

James Raines went 20-for-24 for 169 yards with three touchdown passes and also ran for a 1-yard score. He found Thomas for 16 and 6 yards and Troy Locke for a 4-yard score. Locke also caught a two- point conversion pass and made seven tackles with two sacks.

Berry's A.J. Johnson scored on a 49-yard run. He ran for 117 yards on eight carries.

Berry scored a safety late in the third quarter. Demarcus Johnson led the Berry defense with nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Brandon Simmons made eight tackles.

Vina scored on Joseph Emerson's 23-yard run and Tyler Renfrow's 50-yard run, both in the final period, to finish 5-6.

Berry advanced with a 9-2 record.

Hackleburg 49,

Hubbertville 34

HACKLEBURG | Matt Harper ran for 300 yards and three touchdowns and Kristian Jones added 133 rushing yards and four touchdowns to lead Hackleburg, which advances with a 10-1 reocrd.

Jones scored on runs of 4, 45, 14 and 25 yards, while Harper had touchdown runs of 51, 1 and 55 yards.

Hubbertville's Dax Benton rushed for 193 yards and two scores, and also intercepted a pass. …
