Christmas Market to Aid Samaritan's Purse

The smell of homemade caramel cake and pies will greet guests at the fifth annual Christmas Market benefitting the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry.

Vendors will sell everything from ornaments, wreaths, scarves, jewelry and candles to doll clothes, doll beds and refurbished furniture. Jan Hall, founder of the Christmas Market, will be selling homemade pies, cakes, cookies and other sweets.

Hall came up with the idea for the Christmas Market six years ago when she wanted to do more to help children.

"I'm a doer," she said. "I believed the Lord placed this on my heart to do this project."

Proceeds from the Christmas Market will be used buy items to place in shoeboxes as part of Operation Christmas Child, which will distribute the gift boxes to children in orphanages around the world.

This year, Hall said she wants to turn in 450 boxes.

She also has organized a car wash and several other smaller events throughout the year to raise funds for shoebox items. …
