Curriculum Changes Proposed Less Gym, More AP Languages

Mars Area High School Principal Todd Kolson presented proposed curriculum changes to school directors Tuesday night. The changes could be implemented next school year.

Included are Advanced Placement classes in French and German and a change in the physical education requirements and the number of credits assigned to physical education.

Under the language proposals, both classes would be online. French would be offered through a partnership with the Midwestern Intermediate Unit through the Edgenuity program at a $620 student fee.

German would be offered through Oklahoma State University. The cost would be $350 for students.

Mr. Kolson also proposed cutting the physical education requirement so students would take the class only two of their four years. Students could choose to take gym in either their freshman or sophomore years, and again in either their junior or senior years. …
