Quarterback Trenton Tallman had a trio of first-quarter rushing touchdowns Saturday night for host Williamstown, but the Yellowjackets finished the game with their third-string QB in a 21- 14 Class A playoff victory against Pocahontas County. The No. 8 seed Yellowjackets (9-2), led for good on Tallman's 14-yard touchdown scamper. Tallman, who rushed 17 times for 133 yards, also had TDs of 39 and 7 yards before leaving the game in the second quarter via injury. Backup signal-caller Mason Adkins also left and Carter Haynes played the entire fourth quarter.

Wyatt Workman had a 35-yard touchdown run in the opening period and J.D. Hensler grabbed a 45-yard scoring strike from Workman to set both the halftime and final score for Pocahontas.

The Warriors (8-3), who threw three interceptions and lost a fumble, were led in rushing by Dalton Irvine (12 carries, 97 yards) and Workman (17 carries, 84 yards).

Wheeling Central 42, Pendleton County 28: Isaac Rine went 8 of 11 passing for 139 yards and three scores and John Burkhalter hauled in two of those TDs and scored on an 11-yard run at Wheeling Jesuit University. …
