Islamic Leader: Attacks 'Horrific'

A Topeka imam condemned the terrorist attacks in Paris and said Tuesday his condolences go out to the victims and their families.

Imam Omar Hazim, with the Islamic Center of Topeka, called the attacks "horrific, barbaric."

The coordinated siege left 129 dead and injured 350. The victims came from at least 19 countries, the Associated Press reported.

Hazim said the perpetrators should be brought to justice and that assailants who had been killed during the attack would still face judgment and justice.

Hazim said any kind of terrorist attack against innocent people - - whether they are in France, the U.S., Iraq or anywhere else in the world -- should be condemned.

France responded to the attacks by intensifying airstrikes in Syria aimed at the Islamic State group.
