Kevin Haskin: Upbeat Beaty Awakens Scribes on Rainy Day

Article excerpt

Musings at the mid-week:

- David Beaty came in the room Tuesday and shouted out a wakeup call to media assembled for his weekly news conference.

- Gotta admit he got my attention.

- Good one for Beaty to remember, he admits, when going through dark times.

- When the upset bid was unfolding Saturday at TCU, I cracked on Twitter that Ronda Rousey might be next.

- Actually, that was the biggest upset of the day, though the odds on her to lose were slimmer than the 46 points laid by TCU.

- Wow. With KU in one of college basketball's biggest early- season galas on Tuesday, the Champions Classic, here I am reflecting on football. …
