Tuscaloosa City Council Panel OKs Contract for Juanita Drive Work

A City Council committee on Tuesday approved a $1.02 million contract for work on Juanita Drive.

The contract, awarded to Duncanville-based Dominion Construction Co., gives the company five months to complete the work.

Construction is expected to begin early next year pending final approval by the full City Council.

Wendy McBride of the Office of the City Attorney said the work will extend from University Boulevard to Juanita Drive's intersection with Seventh Street and will upgrade water, sewer and stormwater drainage infrastructure, place sidewalks on both the east and west sides of the street.

Once the utility work is complete, Juanita Drive will be resurfaced along this span.

McBride had no details on when the remaining parts of Juanita Drive will get the same upgrade, but she said a second phase is planned. …
