Defamation Lawsuit Targets St. Louis Rowing Club Leaders

ST. LOUIS * The family of a teenage boy has filed a defamation lawsuit against leaders of the St. Louis Rowing Club, including a woman who also works in the St. Louis County prosecutor's office.

The suit alleges at least $1 million in damages.

The boy and his family, who are not named in the lawsuit, claim he was falsely accused of raping his former girlfriend multiple times. St. Louis County Family Court declined to pursue that case after viewing electronic correspondence between the boy and girl, said Albert Watkins, an attorney for the boy's family.

But plaintiffs allege in a lawsuit filed Nov. 13 in St. Louis County Circuit Court that Lisa M. Jones, director of the victim service division for Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch, abused her position there by accessing confidential information about the boy's case and sharing it with rowing club leaders, including head coach Tim Franck, who then also shared the information with others.

Jones, who did not return a call for comment, is president of the rowing club, which practices at Creve Coeur Lake. …
