TOM Peers scored on his first SALFORD CITY start to earn them a 1- 0 home win against struggling Stamford on Saturday.

After a forgettable first half, the 20-yearold loanee from Chester kept his cool to stroke home just before half-time.

In front of just over 1,300 fans at Moor Lane, Peers and James Poole both fired wide for the Ammies before Peers' goal.

Stamford came out sharper in the second half as Jordan Smith headed wide before a cross deflected off Lewis Hardcastle and into Jay Lynch's arms.

Gary Stopforth and Jordan Hulme both had chances to double Salford's lead, while Smith headed over for the Daniels.

But the Ammies held on for just their second home win in the Evo- Stik Premier, which sent them third in the table.

ASHTON UNITED joined Salford in the play-off places after claiming an excellent 4-2 victory at home to top-of-the-table Nantwich. …
