* When and where: Saturday night at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium in Highland Park.

* #WildThing: The Allegheny Land Trust welcomed 110 supporters and volunteers to enjoy the John Garrick Jazz Trio, a tarot reader, a "meet and greet" with a tenrec, a chinchilla (which was the cutest - and softest - creature ever), and a bull python, as well as a signature drink called the "Wild Lady Slipper" (it was as delightful as it sounds). The night celebrated the achievements of the volunteers and showcased the work of three "super" volunteers: Dan Klein, who carved out 200 hours of volunteer time for Sycamore Island; Jim Lohman, who worked to clean acid mine run-off at Wingfield Pines; and Brian Shakespeare, who felt a responsibility to revitalize Dead Man's Hollow since he likes to hunt on the property. The award for "Community Conservationist" went to Jim Lohman, but the real winners were the five protected properties that the Allegheny Land Trust closed on this year - more than in any other year. …
