Rad Board Approves Nearly $97 Million Budget

The Allegheny Regional Asset District board approved a $96.9 million budget on Monday that will award grants to 93 government and nonprofit groups, with libraries and parks again receiving nearly two-thirds of funds.

The budget, the largest in the district's history, is $2.3 million higher than the preliminary spending plan released in October and $3.1 million more than the 2015 adopted budget.

The additional $2.3 million will be disbursed as discretionary capital grants across 20 organizations. Projects include elevator improvements at the Carnegie Museums in Oakland; a children's garden at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden in Oakdale; a trail connector from Montour Trail to Moon Park; renovations to the studio space at the Hill House Association's Blakey Program Center and upgrades to the Water's Edge exhibits at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. …
