Remind Congress working Americans need tax credits to succeed

The federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) encourages employment and helps low-income families become more self-sufficient. Young children growing up in an EITC household are healthier, go further in school, hold jobs, and achieve higher earnings in adulthood. The EITC, combined with the Child Tax Credit (CTC) which offsets part of the cost of child rearing, lifts more people out of poverty than any other program. The money these families receive boosts the local economy, to the tune of $341 million in West Virginia in 2012 alone. These two government-at-its-best programs are universally acclaimed. Congress will soon begin discussions on them as well as tax credits for businesses. …
