Sharks Legend Hodgson to Hang Up His Boots

FORMER Sale legend Charlie Hodgson has revealed he will retire from playing at the end of this season.

The former England and British Lions fly-half, who left Sale in 2011 to move to Saracens, will remain with his current club and take up a new role as the Premiership champions' head of recruitment and talent identification.

In a glittering career, Hodgson won 38 England caps, scoring a record 44 points on his Test debut against Romania 14 years ago, while he also toured New Zealand with the 2005 Lions.

However, injury cruelly denied him the chance to play in both the 2003 and 2007 World Cups.

Hodgson is the Premiership's top scorer with almost 2,500 career points and has been part of two title-winning sides - with Sale in 2006 and Saracens last summer. …
